Somebody found this and recently put it on Utube, so thanks to them, here’s some fun from a few years back. Just the first part of the program. I think this proves we had a pretty good marriage.

IMPORTANT: THE FOLKS WHO MANAGE THIS LIBRARY HAVE PREVENTED THE POSSIBILITY OF DOWNLOADING THE “PREVIEW VIDEO FILE”, WHICH WAS AVAILABLE FOR YEARS. I GUESS U-TUBE HAS CHANGED THE PLAYING FIELD. ANYWAY, IF YOU TRY, IT MAY FREEZE YOUR COMPUTER, SO I AM DISABLING THE DOWNLOAD FILE.

With an increase in the file size useable in this domain and this server, I can now show you some interesting video clips. You may need the default Windows Media Player, which, if you don’t have it, you can get here Downloads site. Clips can take a little time to download, be patient.
The first clip, and pardon the preview quality, is from an old Pathe Pictorial 1947 documentary talking about past, and future, British stars. You will see Denville Hall in North London, where the old-timers hang out (I believe Lady Redgrave spent some of her last months here). And for stars of the future, you will see me, Petula Clark (no relation), Jean Simmons, and a few others.

Boys’ Big Chance
There were three of us boys singled out in the next video from Pathe Pictorial which dates from 1944. A budding concert pianist named Peter Katin, then head choir boy at Westminster Abbey, and now a concert hall recitalist very much in demand; a budding drummer Victor Feldman known then as Vic “Kid Krupa” Feldman, whom I met decades later playing at a jazz club in the San Fernando Valley. I asked him if he remembered when we last met, and he answered no, that there was a drug-hazed veil hiding his past life, and it could no longer be pierced. He died a few months later; and me, the budding actor, at that time supporting Will Hay on BBC Radio, and at the Victoria Palace. This was prior to the Just William period, and I was deep into building model ships and airplanes.

Finally, a chance to see me and my family when growing up at home in Chipperfield, Hertfordshire. This video dates from 1947.

It would be remiss of me not to tell you that these are examples of archive footage obtainable in England from British Pathe, now handled by ITN Source
