Two important things happened today.
First is Zachy's birthday, which is kind of a happy/sad event, and second is the birth of my wife's new website, which is a happy/happy event.
You can find it at
Please browse, and maybe learn something about Japan. That would make us both happy. Nothing is available for purchase right now.
Coincidentally, "Memoirs of a Geisha" just opened. We quite liked it, although the kimono costumes are not genuine. We have to agree just a little with the L.A. Times capsule review. They decided it was "self-conscious Oscar-bait" from an American male's "faux autobiography". They complain that the cast is "pan-Asian", and the movie was shot "on a Ventura backlot". Oh dear!
Well, Miyuki is 100% Japanese, I can vouch for that. What she makes is from genuine kimono and obi cloth, ironically, though, converted into pieces for the American market.
